Hope International University announces Royals Open Outdoor Track and Field Season With Strong Performances

The Hope International men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened their season with strong performances at the Ben Brown Invitational and the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12.

On Friday, March 10th Emma Timmermans broke the school record in the Women's 1500m with a time of 4:49.89.  Emma started the race off in the back of the pack but slowly worked her way up to the front and finished in a solid 4th place in her heat and 20th overall.  This was a great start to her Outdoor Track Season. Then on Saturday March 11th, the Men's & Women's Track teams opened up their Outdoor Track season at the Occidental Distance Carnival.  

Men

Michael Ventura 100m - 11.90 38th place; 400m 52.77 28th place

Marcus Abendanio 100m - 12.43 44th place; 400m 59.89 55th place

Diego Pineda 800m 2:01.60 44th place; 17:10.19 227th place

Ricardo Cruz 1500m 4:03.39 22nd place; 5000m 15:22.03 84th place

Morgan Faunce 5000m 16:40.55 210th place

Luis Diaz 5000m 16:45.60 213th place

Women

Rayanne Dietrich 100m 13.67 33rd place; 400m 63.90 12th place

Arlene Magana 5000m 19:58.54 85th place

Ash Carabes 5000m 20:52.65 101st

Aurora Couto 10,000m 41:38.71 10th

The Royals next meet is the Team 4 Titus & Ely Invite hosted by Concordia University Irvine on March 25th in Irvine, CA.
