Hope International University announces Royals Break Two School Records and Set 11 New Personal Records at Pomona-Pitzer Invite

The Hope International men's outdoor track and field team continued their season with strong performances at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite in Claremont, CA on Saturday, April 8.The first new school record was set by Ricardo Cruz in the 1500m with a time of 3:59.02 finishing in 6th place in his heat. Cruz improved his time by over 4 seconds and beat the old school record by 1 second. With Cruz's time he now has the #13 fastest time in the GSAC and #40 fastest time in the NAIA. The second new school record was set by Teddy Ochieng in the 100m with a time of 11.49, winning his heat. Ochieng broke the school record in his first time running the 100m. Ochieng's time ranks him #14 in the GSAC.

Michael Ventura - 23.29 in 200m - 5th place in heat; 56.60 in 400m Hurdles - 3rd place in heat and PR
Ricardo Cruz - 1:58.79 in 800m - 2nd place in heat and PR; 3:59.02 in 1500m - 6th place in heat and PR
Luis Diaz - 2:05.72 in 800m - 6th place in heat and PR; 4:14.99 in 1500m - 4th place in heat and SR
Morgan Faunce - 2:14.34 in 800m - 9th place in heat and SR; 4:29.25 in 1500m - 11th place in heat
Men's 400m Relay - 45.12 - 3rd place in heat - Taysir, Michael, Marcus, Teddy
Adrian Smith - competed in the Long Jump but unfortunately did not jump a legal jump
The Track & Field team competed next on April 14 & 15 at the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State.
