Westwood, MA --- WPI Destiny Lum and Lindsay Ambrosino garnered 2022 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Softball honors.  Lum, a rookie, was tabbed to the first team while Ambrosino, who was the league 2019 Rookie of the Year, bookends her outstanding career with a second team selection.

In her first year with the Crimson and Gray, Lum made 128 plate appearances leading the Engineers in hits (52), doubles (14), RBI (49) and home runs (8) with the fourth-most runs scored (19) in 2023. The rookie registered a .406 batting average, ranking ninth in the NEWMAC, accompanied with a .444 on-base percentage and conference-leading .703 slugging percentage. In the conference, the Hawaii native ranked seventh in hits and doubles, second in RBI, and shared the top spot in home runs throughout 40 games for WPI. In addition, Lum tacked on a pair of NEWMAC Softball Athlete of the Week honors in April.

With Destiny's All-NEWMAC first team recognition, that marks back-to-back seasons of rookies earning such distinction for the Crimson and Gray as teammate Shaina Lazarus (Thousand Oaks, CA) accomplished such feat in 2022.

Ambrosino, 2022 Elite 90 recipient and 2019 NEWMAC Softball Rookie of the Year, earned conference postseason praise on the second team after recording 47 hits and 41 runs scored with nine doubles, five triples and four home runs en route to racking up 25 RBI. The graduate student shortstop ranked third in runs, first in triples, 10th in home runs and fourth in stolen bases. Ambrosino closed out her career with a .388 batting average, and top-10 NEWMAC marks in on-base percentage (.476) and slugging percentage (.645) in 2023.

The Engineers, under the guidence of second-year head coach Heather Ross, finished the 2023 stint with a 20-20 overall record and 11-7 mark in league play clinching the four seed before being eliminated on day two of the NEWMAC Softball Tournament.
