Worcester Polytechnic Institute announces Ambrosino Earns Repeat Division III Softball Academic All-America First Team Selection

WORCESTER -- WPI's Lindsay Ambrosino (Chelmsford, MA) was named to the NCAA Division III Softball Academic All-America as voted on by College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA).  The graduate student was named first team for the second straight season.


Ambrosino is one of nine members of the DIII team to claim Academic All-America honors in consecutive years and the only one to repeat as a first team honoree. 

It marks the 103rd occasion a WPI student-athletic has earned Academic All-America accolades and the 83rd since 2006.  Ambrosino is the 26th multi-time honoree for the Engineers and joins Sydney Packard, Mike Pockoski, Celena Dopart, Lindsay Gurska, Jack Bauer, Lou Duh, Katherine Pawlak and Oliver Thomas as just nine Crimson and Gray student-athletes to be selected a first team Academic All-America multiple occasions. 

Ambrosino was a rare four-time Academic All-District selection with the 2023 praise from CSC. The 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Elite 90 Award recipient started as a shortstop for the Engineers for five years. The veteran shortstop bookended her standout career being tabbed the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in 2019 and All-NEWMAC in 2023 after compiling 41 runs, five triples, four home runs, 25 RBI and 18 stolen bases with a NEWMAC Softball Athlete of the Week nod in mid-April. 

The 2023 NEFC All-Region II shortstop wrapped up her graduate career with perfect 4.0 grade-point average in electrical and computer engineering following a 4.0 GPA in her undergraduate courses.
