Wilson College announces Softball Trio Receives All-CSAC Honors
(VILLANOVA, Pa.) – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced its end-of-the-year awards for 2023 and a trio of Wilson Phoenix student-athletes have been honored. Alyssa Wenger (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) and Haley Privett (Jr., Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Magnet) were first team selections, while Kaesey Greene (Sr., Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key) was chosen to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Wenger three-peats her spot as a first team selection in the outfield. She was a primary source of offense for the Phoenix and was among the leaders in the CSAC in many categories. The center fielder was second in the league with 40 runs scored, just four shy of tying Rosemont's Lauren Begg. She was also second in at-bats with 120 and walks with 20.
Her 41 hits were tied for fourth. Of those, 14 were for extra bases. Wenger's four triples were tied for third, and she finished seventh in both doubles and home runs. Once on the bases, she was also a threat as her 20 stolen bases were fourth in the CSAC. Her .342 batting average, 24 RBI, and 61 total bases also led the team.
A main reason for the Wenger scoring so many runs was a result of Privett. She was second on the team with a .318 average after she went 28-for-88 at the plate. She hit in 20 runs. was issued 12 bases on balls, and had a slugging percentage of .408, all of which also ranked second for the Phoenix. Privett also joined Wenger to tie for seventh in the CSAC for home runs.
Greene is also a repeat selection on the All-Sportsmanship Team. She too was a .300 hitter and broke even with the mark after she went 18-for-60 from the plate in 29 games with 20 starts. She was tied with four others for the best fielding percentage in the CSAC with a perfect mark of 1.000 and tied for fifth in fielding double plays with four.
