University of Texas Rio Grande Valley announces Outdoor Track & Field Ends Season at NCAA West Preliminary
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Three members of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's (UTRGV) women's outdoor track & field team completed the season Thursday at Hornet Stadium in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary Round.
Graduate student Marlene Gutierrez finished 31st in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 58.40 meters, which is the eighth-best throw in program history. In one outdoor season with the Vaqueros, Gutierrez set a program record in hammer with a throw of 62.03 meters and took ownership of seven of the top 10 throws in program history.
Junior Aisha Gay clocked in at 54.10 to finish 38th in the first round of the women's 400-meter dash with the seventh-fastest race in program history. She ends her outdoor season with a program record (53.30) and four of the 10 fastest times in the event.
Freshman Rayja'nae Pettit was 46th in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.16 meters.
