University of Rio Grande announces Rio's Jenkins earns spot in NAIA national meet

BEREA, Ohio - University of Rio Grande freshman Tyler Jenkins earned a spot in the upcoming NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship based on his performance at Friday's Harrison Dillard Twilight hosted by Baldwin-Wallace University at George Finnie Stadium.
     Jenkins, a native of Barnesville, Ohio, hit the "B" qualifying standard for the national meet by finishing seventh in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:45.57.
     The national championship meet is set for May 24-26 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
     A handful of other athletes representing the RedStorm also competed, but none posted a qualifying mark for the national meet and only one had a Top 10 showing.
     Amarissa Kerns, a freshman from Lancaster, Ohio finished eighth in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:31.15.
