University of Richmond announces Zhu Selected to Patriot League All-Academic Team
RICHMOND, Va. — Spiders senior Vicky Zhu has been named to the Patriot League's All-Academic Team for Women's Golf, the conference announced Friday. It is the second Patriot League honor in the last two weeks for Zhu, who earned First Team All-Patriot League honors on April 23 after finishing second in the conference championship. Zhuwas one of five players selected to the team by a panel of conference staff and school sports information directors. Nominees were evaluated on their performance on the course and in the classroom and all nominees were required to have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better and to have completed at least two collegiate semesters.
Zhu shot a career-best 1-over 217, tied for the eighth-lowest 54-hole score in program history, to lead the Spiders to a runaway win at the Patriot League Championship on April 21-23 at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va. Richmond defeated defending championship Boston by 16 strokes, the largest margin in the history of the event, and set a new standard for best total score (10-over 874) and best single-round score (1-under 287) at the Patriot League Championship. Zhu's runner-up finish was the best tournament result of her career, and her 2-under 70 in the final round was her first career round under par.
This is the fifth straight year Richmond has been represented on the Patriot League's All-Academic Team (not including 2020, when the spring season was canceled). Emily Ward was selected in 2021 and 2022, Lizzie Reedy was on the team in 2019, and Annie Collom was picked in 2018.
Zhu will graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing from the Robins School of Business Sunday, then travel to Raleigh, N.C. to join the Spiders for the NCAA Women's Golf Regional, which begins Monday at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
