University of Nevada-Reno announces Nevada wins Monday game against the Bengals

RENO, Nev. - Nevada softball took the win, 9-6, against the Idaho State Bengals Monday afternoon.

The Pack put in four runs in the bottom of the first.Chelie Senini started the inning with a walk. Bridgette Gilliano singled to right and advanced to second, Senini advanced to third but scored on the error by the left field. Gilliano stole third base but ended up scoring on the throwing error by the catcher. The inning continued with Madison Clark's RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0. Gabby Herrera's single to right field drove Clark across the plate for a 4-0 lead.

In the third inning, Clark with a single and a stolen base scored Bradianne Glover, who came in to pinch run for Charli Hawkins. Herrera with another single score Aaliyah Jenkins and Clark for a 7-3 lead.

Haley Painter continues to be efficient on bunt at the plate for a run scored by Senini. Hawkins SAC fly to center field scored Gilliano for a 9-4 score in the bottom of the sixth.

The Bengals scored two runs in the top of the seventh but Nevada continued at the top for a 9-6 win.

Brooklyn Trujillo-Quintana started in the circle for the Pack. Trujillo-Quintana is now 3-0 and in this game, the senior gave up six hits, three runs, and strikeout one before Carley Brown came into relief. Brown played 2.2 innings to shut down the offense, with only two hits allowed and three strikeouts before Blake Craft stepped in. Craft allowed one hit and a run before Tyra Clary came into the circle. Clary closed the game for Nevada with three hits and two runs allowed and one strikeout.

Nevada offense had also a total of eight stolen bases on this game.

Nevada will face Colorado State on the final series of the regular season, May 4 - 6. First pitches on Thursday and Friday are set for 3:05 p.m. while the final game will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. All games will be broadcasted by Nevada Sports Net and on Saturday, The Pack will celebrate seniors Charli McLendon and Brooklyn Trujillo-Quintana
