United States Merchant Marine Academy announces Men Three-Peat As Skyline Champs, Women Finish As Runners-Up

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 23, 2023) – The USMMA track & field teams put together a total of 247 points between them courtesy of 41 total medals including 22 golds at the 2023 Skyline Conference Track & Field Championships.

The Mariner men have claimed each of the past three Skyline Conference Outdoor Championships, coinciding with Head Coach Kayla Koelbel's arrival in 2020-21. The guys from Kings Point swept the individual postseason awards as Isaac Clark took home both the Track and Rookie Athlete of the Year accolades while Nathan Fields shared the title of Field Athlete of the Year with FSU's Jahvirye Wilks. The women have now been the recipient of the runner-up trophy for the past two campaigns, falling shy of the Farmingdale State Rams each instance. Junior Shea Curran secured Women's Field Athlete of the Year to make sure each squad got represented on the conference-level. 14 separate males along with eight different females brought home hardware in some form as eight Mariners went for three medals alone while another five student-athletes double-dipped. Merchant Marine was utterly dominant on both the track and in the field with most of its hardware being golden. Below is the list of all gold medals won by USMMA:
