Thomas University announces Night Hawks Softball Takes Home Multiple All-Conference Awards
The 2023 All- Sun Conference Softball and Superlative Award Winners were announced on Wednesday, May 3rd as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. For Thomas, they placed three players on the first team.
Holly Campbell, (GR, Lake Park, GA) was selected as a first-team infielder. Campbell was third on the Night Hawks in batting average at .358 and started all 44 games that she appeared in. Campbell led the team in doubles (12) and sacrifices (13), was second in RBIs (28), and total bases (61). Campbell was third in on-base percentage at .391.
Averie Sheppard (Jr., Chattanooga, TN) was selected as a first-team outfielder. Sheppard led the Night Hawks in batting average at .459 and started every one of the Night Hawks 46 games. Sheppard led the team in at bats (159), hits (73), total bases (95), on-base percentage (.509), triples (7), and stolen bases (32). Sheppard tied for the team lead in bases-on-ball with (14).
Jaelynn Vialpando (Sr., Albuquerque, NM) was selected as first-team catcher. Vialpando started 33 games and batted .313, good for fourth on the team. Vialpando scored 15 runs, while driving in 13. Vialpando threw out three runners trying to steal on her this season.
