Thomas University announces Day One Recap: Mills Advances to Finale

MARION, IN– The Thomas University Men's Track and Field team stepped on the biggest stage of the program's history this past Wednesday at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Marion, IN. One Night Hawk proved to be a top contender in his respective event. 

The 4x100 meter relay squad concluded their historic season with a 29th overall finish for a time of (41.62)

Freshman Darian Mills proved to be a strong contender for the 400 hurdles, boasting a solid time of 52.80 (4th place) qualifying time to advance to Friday's final.For full and live results click here: 

UP NEXT:  Two Night Hawks will compete in their individual events starting tomorrow. 

Freshman Seth Humphries will take his chances in the 800 meter run, with a start time of 2:50 pm EST

Freshman Micheal Eady will compete in the 100 meter dash, which is set to take place at 3:40pm EST

"Our athletes made history today as they were the first  TU track and field athletes to participate in the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championship," said Head Coach Scott Gowan. " Even though our 4x100 relay did not qualify for Friday's Finale, they ran very well." Their time was less than a second from making the finals." 

When asked about Darian Mills performance, Gowan did not hesitate to express his excitement for the historic Freshman.

" Darian ran a strong race and placed first in his heat which helped him qualify for the finals on Friday." 

" Darian is used to being in a championship atmosphere with winning this year's SUN Conference 400 Hurdles title. " "He has one more race left in what has been an unbelievable Freshman season."
