The University of Oklahoma announces OU Drops Conference Opener to No. 12 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 20 Oklahoma women's tennis team fell to No. 12 Texas, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center.

Doubles kicked off with No. 32 Carmen and Ivana Corley claiming the 6-4 win at the top court over No. 27 Sabina Zeynalova and Charlotte Chavatipon. Texas answered with a 6-3 win on court three from Taisiya Pachkaleva and Nicole Rivkin against Dana Guzman and Julia Garcia Ruiz.

The opening point came down to court two. After an even 5-5 score, UT's Nicole Khirin and Marlee Zein prevailed 7-5 over No. 8 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth.

Texas kept the momentum and secured the first four singles courts. Malaika Rapolu was first to finish and defeated OU's Emma Staker on court five, 6-0, 6-3. The top court was next to wrap up with Sleeth falling 6-4, 6-1 to Khirin. Clinching the win for Texas, Taisiya Pachkaleva claimed court four over Pisareva, 6-3, 6-2.

The match played out and the Longhorns gained one more point on court three from No. 101 Zeynalova over No. 97 Carmen Corley, 6-3, 6-4.

OU notched back-to-back wins to get on the board. No. 86 Guzman claimed a ranked win on court two against No. 58 Chavatipon, 7-6 (5), 6-2 and Garcia Ruiz secured the 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 [10-8] victory at the No. 6 spot over Rivkin.
