The University of Memphis announces Morello Named AAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Track & Field graduate student Alyssa Morello was named American Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. 
Morello, a Lake Zurich, Illinois native, earned the honor after a runner-up performance in the pole vault at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Morello's AAC-leading mark of 4.23m (13'10.5") was good for No. 2 in program history and is currently No. 11 in the NCAA. 
A season ago, Morello turned in a third-place finish in pole vault at the indoor AAC Championships and a runner-up finish at the outdoor conference championships. Before her time at Memphis, Morello competed for the University of Illinois, where she ranks sixth in program history in pole vault. 
The Tigers are back on the track this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Louisville Invitational.
