SUNY Oneonta University announces Red Dragons Sit Fourth Following First Day of SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field began the SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with senior Megan Francoeur (New Lebanon, NY/Pittsfield (MA)) placing third in the 10,000-meter race to be named third team all-conference. The Red Dragons are fourth with 20 points, and Geneseo is first with 69 points.

Junior Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) qualified for tomorrow's 100-hurdle finals with a personal record of 14.78 to finish third. Senior Josephine Alliano (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) also qualified after crossing seventh with a personal best of 16.27.

In the 100-meter dash, freshman Margaret Petty ran a personal record of 13.20 to finish 12th overall. 

Junior Ella DePhillips (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) qualified for the 800-meter finals with a personal record of 2:17.88, which was good for fifth place. 

Junior Taylor Johnson (White Plains, NY/White Plains) advanced to tomorrow's 400-hurdle finals after placing eighth at 1:11.11.

Francoeur took third in the 10,000-meter race at 37:46.22.

In the javelin, sophomore Sage Douglass (Pine Plains, NY/Stissing Mountain) earned a fourth-place finish with a throw of 30.87 meters. Nnate recorded a personal best of 5.38 meters in the long jump to tally a sixth-place finish. 

Oneonta went sixth through eighth in the hammer throw, with junior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall) taking sixth at 45.30 meters. Senior Hannah Jackson (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) was seventh at 43.76 meters, and senior Christina Groleau (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) was eighth at 41.81 meters.

Oneonta returns on Sat. May 6 at 10 a.m. for the second day of the SUNYAC Championships.
