SUNY Oneonta University announces Red Dragons Begin Action at AARTFC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's and women's track & field teams began Friday's first day of the AARTFC Indoor Championships by competing in eight events. 

Freshman Cameron Sands () began the day running in the 60-meter prelims and placed 33rd with a time of 7.19. 

In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) qualified for tomorrow's finals after running a 9.07 in the prelims for eighth overall. Senior Josephine Alliano (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) finished 12th at 9.58. Junior Alex Mavros (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) ran 8.83 on the men's side to finish 32nd. 

Junior Megan Francoeur (New Lebanon, NY/Pittsfield (MA)) earned a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter with a time of 17:55.82. Junior Eion McClain (Andover, NJ/Pope John XXIII) crossed at 15:07.94 for a seventh-place finish for the men's team. 

Junior Vincent Zheng (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) placed 29th in the men's shot put with a mark of 13.19 meters. Junior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall) threw 12.96 meters to finish third in the women's shot put. Junior Emelene Burek (Cohoes, NY/Shaker) took 17th with a mark of 11.47.

Junior Aidan Kelly (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) competed in the heptathlon and currently has 2,361 points. Kelly won the high jump at 1.84 meters and was fourth in the shot put at 10.41.

The day wrapped up with the distance medley relay, and the women's group of Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Danielle Jackson (Bronx, NY/Central Park East), Ella DePhillips (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), and Olivia O'Donnell (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) placed fifth at 12:37.62. Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck), Alec Weiss (Selden, NY/Newfield), Luke Jarski (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa), and Owen Sullivan (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) crossed at sixth with a time of 10:25.12. 

Oneonta finishes the second day tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m.
