St. Cloud State University announces Five Huskies Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Five St. Cloud State University softball student-athletes earned 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Graduate Sydney Trees, graduate Raven Vanden Langenberg, graduate Lauren Kirchberg, senior Holly Weinberger, and junior Lydia Krueger earned the honor for their success in the classroom and on the field.
As the Huskies leadoff hitter this season, Trees batted .350 with an on-base percentage of .458 while slugging .577. The catcher tallied 57 hits with 29 RBIs, including four against Bemidji State (Mar. 18), and 20 extra base hits with ten doubles, seven home runs, and three triples. Additionally, she was named a 2023 NSIC All-Tournament team member. In the classroom, Trees maintained a 3.95 GPA while pursuing a master's degree in Sports Management.
Vanden Langenberg garnered her third consecutive All-NSIC honor as she was named to the NSIC Second Team this season. The shortstop ended the season batting .300 and tallied a team leading 47 runs placing her seventh in the conference. Additionally, she put up 48 hits with 39 RBIs, including five at Minot State (Apr. 2), 11 doubles, and six home runs with 11 stolen bases. In the classroom, Vanden Langenberg maintained a 3.56 GPA while pursuing a degree in Nursing.
As the team's relief pitcher, Kirchberg appeared in 15 games with nine starts compiling a 3-5 record. She struck out 25 batters over 42.2 innings pitched including six strikeouts against Minnesota State (Apr. 7). In addition, she was named a Myle's Brand with Distinction Award winner. In the classroom, Kirchberg maintained a 3.95 GPA while pursuing a master's degree in Writing Studies and Rhetoric.
Weinberger earned her second consecutive All-NSIC Second Team honor this season. The outfielder finished the season batting .358 at the plate with an on-base percentage of .418. She tallied 63 hits, including four against UMary (Feb. 12) in 176 at-bats with 31 RBIs, 13 doubles, one triple, and a home run. In the classroom, Weinberger maintained a 3.93 GPA while pursuing a degree in Health and Physical Education.
Krueger closed the season batting .276 with an on-base percentage of .435. The second baseman tallied 24 hits in 87 at-bats with 18 RBIS, one double, and a triple while going 6-for-6 in stolen bases. She led the conference in hit by pitches with 16 this season. In the classroom, Krueger maintained a 3.89 GPA while pursuing a degree in Gender and Women's Studies.
The 2023 Academic All‐District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐ athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐ America® honorees will be announced June 6. The CSC Academic All‐District® teams include the student‐athletes listed on the following pages.
