Southern Utah University announces Thunderbirds Softball Adds Transfer Catcher Guindon

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah Softball and Head Coach Don Don Williams are excited to announce the addition of a transfer signee, Olivia Guindon. The catcher from Tomball, Texas comes to SUU after having been a part of the University of Massachusetts softball team. 

COACH DON DON WILLIAMS SAID

"Olivia is an intense competitor that has high expectations for herself. She will bring servant leadership everyday. Olivia is a great fit for our program." 

During Guindon's 2023 season as a catcher at UMass, she displayed solid defensive skills. In several games, she showcased her ability to handle the catching duties efficiently. Notably, in a game against North Dakota, she had a perfect fielding performance, recording five putouts without any errors. This was just one game where she demonstrated her reliability behind the plate.

While Guindon had some challenging games where UMass faced losses, she consistently contributed to the team's defensive efforts. Her overall season statistics revealed a total of 31 putouts and 28 assists, highlighting her involvement in multiple defensive plays throughout the season. With just one error committed, Guindon maintained a respectable fielding percentage of .935, reflecting her overall defensive prowess. Her solid performance behind the plate played a crucial role in supporting her team's efforts on the field.
