Rice University announces Slinkman Advances to NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO – The Rice men's track and field team had a great first day at the NCAA West Prelims in Sacramento, Calif, with Alexander Slinkman punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas. 

Slinkman finished the night by tying for second in the pole vault with a height of 5.40m (17-08.50). Slinkman will join Grant Levesque, who qualified in the decathlon (event not ran in prelims, automatically goes to championship), in Austin to represent the Owls. 

In order to advance to the NCAA Championships in Austin athletes have to finish within the top 12 of the east and west prelims (24 advance total).
