Rice University announces Levesque, Slinkman to Compete at NCAA Championships
AUSTIN – The Rice men's track and field team will have Grant Levesque and Alexander Slinkman representing the Owls this week in Austin, Texas for the NCAA Championships beginning on Wednesday, June 7.
Competing at the NCAA Championships for the second-straight year, Slinkman enters the meet following a second-place finish in the West Prelims after clearing 5.40m (17-8.5). Slinkman swept the pole vault titles at the indoor/outdoor C-USA meets, setting the conference records at both. At the NCAA Indoor Championship, Slinkman finished 10th with a clearance of 5.51m (18-1).
Following a second-place finish in the decathlon with 7903 points at the C-USA Championships, Levesque earned an automatic qualification to the NCAA Championship. His 7903 ranks third all-time at Rice and are the most points since the 2017 season. Levesque qualified for the NCAA West Prelims last year in pole vault, where he finished 29th with a clearance of 5.04m (16-6.5).
