Prairie View A & M University announces Panthers Earn Individual Medals at 2023 SWAC Championship

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M University men's track and field team captured individual medals en route to an eighth-place finish at the 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.


Junior Stanley Hamilton was the runner-up in the men's Decathlon to open the scoring for the Panthers, finishing with 6282 total points.  Junior Arrion Knight took home a third-place medal for a personal best in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.08.  Knight also posted a career-best in the men's 400m hurdles for another third-place finish with a time of 52.55.  Senior Damon Cobb placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.22.  


The Panthers had a strong showing in the 4x400m relay with the team of Christion Derrick, Cobb, Knight, and Camdyn Parsee for a second-place finish with a time of 3:11.77.


In the field events, Michael Bogues was second with the Javelin throw with a distance of 54.10 meters.  In the men's high jump both Parsee and Oseyi Abulu scored points.  Parsee had a jump of 2.02m (3.5) for a fifth-place finish, while Abulu scored two points for a 2.02m jump for a seventh-place finish.  Hamilton was third in the triple jump for a jump of 14.94.
