Mount St. Mary's University announces Mount Men's Tennis Falls to Rider in Hard Fought Match, 4-3

Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (March 29, 2023)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to visiting Rider, 4-3, at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Wednesday. The Mountaineers fall to 3-10 overall and 0-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the loss.The Mountaineers won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point for a 1-0 lead in the match. Elliot Stevens and Giovanni Abriola posted a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles while Christos Dagklis and Marcel Cronin outlasted Rider's aime de Jaraiz and Roger Martinez, 7-6 (8-6) to clinch the point.Jarrett Karnibad downed Jake Grimes, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 6 singles while Filippos Zachiotis won at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 7-5, over Dhurv Tangri to tie the score at 3-3. Rider's Stavro Hadjivarnava clinched the win with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles over the Mount's Giovanni Abriola.The Mount returns to the court this weekend with a pair of MAAC matches at Quinnipiac on Saturday and Fairfield on Sunday.
