Morehead State Eagles announces Tonnessen Tabbed Golfer of the Week After First Place Finish

MOREHEAD, Ky. – After claiming tournament honors and leading her team to a fourth place finish at the Spring Break Shootout, Ruth Tonnessen has been tabbed OVC Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.

The tournament honors were the first of her collegiate career and the victory also marked her second top-5 finish of the season. The freshman fashioned rounds of 71-67-72—210 and had success on par 3, par 4 and par 5 scoring, leading the team in every category, and was tied for the tournament lead in birdies with 13.

Her second round 67 was the lowest round shot by any OVC player this season, and the best round from an Eagle since Anna Magnusson in 2016.

Tonnessen and the Eagles return to action in two weeks at the Any Given Tuesday Invitational. The two-day tournament tees off Mar. 27 from Pawley's Island, S.C.
