Morehead State Eagles announces Tonnessen Scores Second Place Showing for Women's Golf at Colonel Classic

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Freshman Ruth Tonnessen continued her fantastic inaugural season with a second place showing at the Colonel Classic this week as her Eagle team finished seventh place out of 16 teams at the 5,986-yard Arlington Club in Richmond. 

The Eagles finished at 309-293-301--903. The second round total was the second best team score for that round. 

The Stavanger, Norway, native led the entire field after two rounds and finished tied for second, her third top-five finish this year. Her scorecard reflected a 72-70-76--218. She also led the entire 93-player field in par five scoring (4.4, -7) and birdies (12). 

Fellow Norwegian Tuva Marie Isebakke was second on the team and 32nd overall with a 79-74-74. Playing in her hometown, senior MacKenzie Neal's final tally was 79-75-73--227 to also tie Isabakke in 32nd. 

Olivia Hensley was 55th at 79-74-78--231, while senior Hailey Rietz rounded out the Eagle five, at 79-77-87--243.

Sophomore Hanna Montgomery played as an individual, scoring 83-78-76--237. 

The Eagles' next action is the OVC Tournament, in Muscle Shoals, Ala., April 16-18.
