Morehead State Eagles announces Tonnessen Scores Fourth Career OVC Golfer of the Week Honor

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- In only her first collegiate season, Morehead State Women's Golf's Ruth Tonnessen has garnered her fourth Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week accolade.

Her award is the program's sixth weekly honor this season, in addition to a league Golfer of the Month award as well.

Tonnessen finished the Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky., this week tied for second place, her third career top-five placing. The freshman had rounds of 72-70-76 to finish at 218 (+2), which was just one shot behind the medalist. She led the field in par five scoring (4.4, -7) and birdies (12).

She currently leads the OVC in scoring average (74.8).

Tonnessen is just the third Eagle in program history to garner at least four OVC Golfer of the Week awards in one season, joining Emma Jonsson (2010-11) and Marisa Kamelgarn (5 in 2011-12).
