Morehead State Eagles announces Tonnessen Named OVC Golfer of the Month

MOREHEAD, Ky. – After having much success in the month of March, Ruth Tonnessen has been tabbed OVC Golfer of the Month, the league announced Friday.

The Norwegian native collected two top-30 finishes last month, including a first place finish at the Spring Break Shootout. Tonnessen fired rounds of 71-67-72—210, with her second round 67 being the lowest round shot by any conference player this season and the best round for a Morehead State golfer since 2016.

The freshman led the team in nearly every statistical category in March, including par 3 scoring and in total birdies with 20. Tonnessen also currently leads the Eagles in average scoring this season, with a 74.77.

Tonnessen and the Eagles return to the links in two weeks at the OVC Championship in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The three-day tournament will tee off from RTJ Fighting Joe Course.
