Milwaukee School of Engineering Announces Men's Tennis Draws Uw-whitewater in Ncaa First Round
From May 1, 2023 post.
MILWAUKEE – For the first time since 2010, MSOE men's tennis is headed to the NCAA tournament. Their win on Sunday against Illinois Tech in the NACC tournament championship match punched their ticket and today they got their destination. Waiting for them will be a first round meeting with UW-Whitewater in Saint Peter, Minn.
MSOE went 14-9 overall (6-1 NACC) and won a three way share of the regular season conference championship. They ended up with the third seed in the tournament due to tiebreakers but still ran the table with wins over sixth seeded Concordia Chicago (5-0), second seeded St. Norbert (5-1), and top seeded IIT (5-3).
Their opponent will be UW-Whitewater, a team that went 16-5 and won their automatic bid in a 5-2 victory over TCNJ during the NJAC championship match. This will be the first ever meeting between the Raiders and Warhawks in the sport. UW-Whitewater has secured the victory in their last three matches while the Red & White will enter on a five game win streak.
Gustavus Adolphus College will host the regional, with the winner of MSOE/UW-Whitewater drawing them in the second round. The last team standing in the bracket will advance to the national championships in sunny Orlando, Fla. later in May.
The official time and date for the opening round match will be announced shortly.
