Mid-Atlantic Christian University Athletics announces Baseball Completes Mid-Week Set Sweep of Grace Christian

Box Score ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Mid-Atlantic Christian University baseball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday night as they defeated visiting Grace Christian University by a score of 11-9 to finish the sweep of the three game mid-week set.

It didn't take the MACU bats to get hot as the Mustangs would put a three spot on the scoreboard in the first inning. Elijah Ollman continued his great performance from the Tuesday doubleheader as the sophomore registered a two RBI single to right field and would later force a throwing error on a steal attempt that would bring around Travis Snell. 

The Mustangs notched another run in the second as Jack Valachovic stole second and on the attempt, back-to-back errors from Grace Christian allowed him to register the fourth run of the evening for MACU.

Grace Christian would continue to chip away and eventually take the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth off of a RBI double. 

The GCU lead wouldn't last long as MACU notched three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Elijah Ollman led things off with a RBI double to right. Anthony Torres registered the second run of the inning off of a sacrifice fly to center field. The third run was scored off of a error by the Grace Christian catcher that allowed Jack Valachovic to touch home.

MACU again continued the scoring onslaught as the Mustangs scored another three runs. A Grace Christian error by the first baseman scored Caleb Whitley and Trey Dail to start the inning. Elijah Ollmancontinued the inning with an RBI single to right field.

Grace Christian would make things interesting in the top of the 9th as the Tigers notched a couple of more runs to bring the final tally to 11-9.

Elijah Ollman led the Mustang offensive attack going 4-for-4 with a double and three stolen bases.

Andrew Copeland got the start on the mound for the Mustangs. The sophomore threw four innings, gave up three runs, none of which were earned. Connor Wong,Giovanny Mendez and Cole Langley all pitched in relief, with Langley registering his first win of the season.

The Mustangs will finish their homestand with a Saturday doubleheader against Christendom College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
