Mid-Atlantic Christian University announces MACU Wins First Ever National Tournament Game
MACU wins 6-4 to earn first ever USCAA National Tournament Game. After making the USCAA tournament the past 3 seasons, MACU has yet to win a game in the tournament. Each year, MACU has gotten closer and closer to that elusive first victory but kept coming up short. In Game 2 of the 2023 National tournament, the Mustangs reversed that.
MACU was lead by timely hitting and a dominate pitching performance by Colin Langley. Langley threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs striking out 5 in 95 pitches. In the 3rd inning, the Mustangs scored 3 runs to extend their lead to 4-0. Jalyn Lee hit a 2-Run Homerun followed by an RBI double from Jack Valachovic.
Alex Miller made the play of the day when Atlantis tried to tie the game up. Runners on 2nd and 3rd two outs, Atlantis singled up the middle. Alex Miller came up throwing and threw the tying runner out at home plate to keep the lead for the Mustangs at 4-3.
MACU added two insurance runs by scoring 1 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th.
Caleb Whitley came in and got the save to secure the victory.
"It was nice to get the monkey off our back" stated by Coach Louis after the game.
