Methodist University announces Topoly Breaks School Record as Monarchs Conclude Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. The Methodist track and field team wrapped up an eventful weekend with day three of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Saturday.
In the men's 3k, Drew Topoly finished fourth, setting a new school record with a time of 8:45.41. The previous school record of 9:53 was held by Rodney Rothoff, which he set in 1990.

PERSONAL RECORDS
- Jack Barriger ran a 9:34.78 in the men's 3k, setting an all-time PR by 21 seconds.
- Drew Topoly won the 3k steeplechase, recording a new PR of 9:27.13.
OTHER PERFORMANCES
- Josiyah Woods and AJ Mitchell ran a 23.25 and 23.68 respectively in the men's 200-meter dash.
- Kayla Mitchell and Treazure Rosario Watson ran a 26.82 and 27.33 respectively in the women's 200-meter dash.
- Rosario Watson also ran the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.53.
- Austin Ezzell ran the men's 800-meter run in 2:00.51.
- Courtney Drumm ran an 11:05.85 in the women's 3k.
- Shomare Hazley recorded a 33.17-meter throw in the men's discus and an 11.00-meter throw in the men's shot put.
- Rebecca McGaughnea recorded a 9.24-meter throw in the women's shot put.
- Methodist finished in seventh overall in the men's 4x100-meter relay as AJ Matthews, Aaron Nash, Josiyah Woods and Micah McCorvey put together a time of 43.23.
- The Monarchs recorded a time of 51.91 in the women's 4x100-meter relay, ran by Erykalyn Neal, Treazure Rosario Watson, Kayla Mitchell and Brandi Gardner.

Methodist will next compete in the Adidas Trojan Challenge hosted by the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C. on Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25.
