Mercer University announces Tara Davis Named SoCon Women's Track Athlete Of The Week

MACON, Ga. - Mercer's Tara Davis was named Southern Conference Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office Wednesday, for her record setting performance in the 400M Dash last weekend at the UAB Spring Invite.

At the UAB Spring Invite on April 1, Davis won the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 55.08 seconds. The mark posted by the senior from Fayetteville, Georgia, leads the SoCon this season and is the second-best time in the event in program history. Davis' time also ranks 60th on the NCAA Division I East Outdoor Qualifying List this season.

Davis and the Mercer track and field team will be back in action this weekend. The distance runners will compete in the Flames Invite in Cleveland, Tennessee on Friday April 7.

Meanwhile, Davis and the sprinters will compete in the South Florida Invitational from Friday, April 7 to Saturday, April 8 in Tampa, Florida.
