MBB: Wildcats Lose A Heartbreaker On The Road At Sage.

ALBANY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team lost a heartbreaking road game at Sage 70-69. Sages Jackson Brown was the games hero as he knocked down a jump shot with 1.2 seconds on the clock to give the Gators their first win of the season. The Wildcats are now 2-2 this season.
The Wildcats jumped out to a six-point lead in the first half thanks in large part to some solid shooting by Dylan Ernst who scored 12 points on 5-7 shooting in the first. Ernst Finished the game with 17 points. Jesse O'Dell scored nine of his 16 points in the first half to help the Wildcats get out to the lead.
The Wildcats would grow their six-point lead to as many as 11 points in the second half, but the Gators surged all the way back to swing an 11-point deficit with 16 minutes to play to a five-point Gator lead with 11 minutes to play. The game saw a thrilling 17 lead changes and eight ties with the teams trading blows back and forth right until the final minutes of play.
The Wildcats had a chance to extend their one-point lead to three points on a pair of free throws with 10 seconds to play but missed both to set up the game-winning jumper by Jackson Brown with 1.2 seconds to play. The Wildcats turned over the inbound pass after the made basket on a hail-mary pass down court to try and get off a quick shot.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Jackson Brown had a monster game for the Gators. He scored 27 points, hit the game-winner, and had four rebounds.
- Dylan Ernst had a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double for the Wildcats. He shot 50% from the field and had a pair of steals.
- Jesse O'Dell had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats. He also had a team-high two blocks and three assists.
- Mitch Kernizan had 15 points on 6-9 shooting from the floor. He also had seven rebounds and three assists.
- Todd Williamson had 14 points for the Gators. He also had five rebounds and a game-high three steals.

The Wildcats will return to the Campus Center Gym on Monday night for a local rivalry game with the Utica University Pioneers. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 PM tip-off.
