MBB: Wildcats Drop Home Opener To Potsdam 84-73.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team lost to Potsdam on Tuesday night 84-73 in their home opener at the Campus Center Gym. The two teams played a tight first half with the Wildcats holding a three-point lead through the first half of play. Potsdam's Brandon Segar Jr. took over the game in the second half, scoring 17 points while shooting 70% from the floor to help the Bears outscore the Wildcats 54-40 in the second half to earn their first win of the year. The Wildcats are now 2-1 this season.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Brandon Segar Jr. led all scorers with 24 points for Potsdam. He also had seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
  • LJ Randle had a team-high 17 points for the Wildcats. The junior also had seven rebounds, two assists a steal, and a block. He shot 70% from the field and knocked down three of five 3-pointers.
  • Jesse O'Dell had 16 points, a game-high four blocks, three assists, and a pair of rebounds for Poly.
  • Cheickne Toure scored 13 points for the Wildcats on five of seven from the field. He also had a pair of steals, a pair of assists, and knocked down three 3-pointers.
  • Alan Rodriguez had 10 points, a game-high six assists, four rebounds, and a pair of steals for SUNY Poly.
  • Colton Huestis scored 14 points for Potsdam.
  • Jeff Williamson had Parker Kelly had 13 and 10 points respectively for the Bears.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to Albany on Saturday, November 19th to take on the Sage College Gators in non-conference play. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
