Martin Luther College announces Men in Second After Day One of UMAC Championships

Morris, MN - The Martin Luther College men's track and field team finished day one of the UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in second place with a total of 94 points. The Knights ended the day only behind UW-Superior, who finished with 116.5 points.

Caleb Lash would impress in the 3000 meter steeplechase by taking first in the event with a time of 10:23.80, earning MLC a total of 10 points. Lash surpassed the second place finisher by almost 15 seconds. 

In the 400 meter hurdles, Jeremiah Stanton claimed second with a mark of 57.77 and just missed the first place prize after Earl Foster of UW-Superior won it with his time of 57.45. Luke Wegner was right behind Stanton to earn fourth in the event with a time of 1:01.57.

The Knights found a lot of success in the pole vault as well, having three athletes finish in the top four. Micah Schibbelhut took second (3.85 meters), while Seth Veers (3.55) and Andrew Wietzke (3.40 meters) finished third and fourth, respectively. Schibbelhut also had another second place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.64. Nathan Pausma clocked in 2:01.24 to earn third just behind Schibbelhut.

In the javelin throw, Christopher Crenshaw earned fourth with a top throw of 42.45 meters, while Zach Scheuerlein got fifth (42.37 meters).

The Knights will conclude their season with day two of the UMAC championships tomorrow, May 6, where they will look to make ground on UW-Superior to receive first place in the team competition.
