Marquette University announces Track & Field Travels to Madison for Wisconsin Alumni Classic

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track & field travels to Madison Friday, May 5 for the Wisconsin Alumni Classic and the final meet of the regular season.

The Golden Eagles make their second trip to Madison of the year, the first of the outdoor season. The meet kicks off from the McClimon Track & Soccer Complex at 1 p.m. CT with the throwing events. Track events begin at 3:30 p.m. with the women's 100m hurdles. Prime Time Timing will provide
live results for the meet.

LAST TIME OUT

MU sent representatives from the big team to the Drake Relays and the Drake Alternative at UW-Whitewater.

The Marquette relay teams clocked top-10 marks at Drake. The men's 4x200 team of
Gus Kasun, Samuel Cascella, Justin Juniel and Alex Lesperance matched the 10th fastest time in program history with a time of 1:29.35. The women's team of Juru Okwaramoi, Siani Brown-Carr, Payton Hanselman and Daylee Braden won their heat with the No. 6 time in school history, 1:40.29.

The women's sprint medley relay team of Braden, Brown-Carr, Okwaramoi and
Emily Noone clocked the fourth fastest time in program history with a time of 4:01.15 to finish third overall.

At UW-Whitewater, the Golden Eagles found success in the jumps with winners in both the triple jump and high jump. Sophomore
Kaylee Hopp was the winner of the triple jump with a mark of 11.71m/38-5.00 ft. Hopp also took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.27m/17-3.50 ft.

Emma Ludwig took first in the high jump, making it over the bar at a height of 1.58m/5-2.25 ft. Freshman Natalia Jackowski finished runner-up with a mark of 1.53m/5-0.25 ft.

Adam Schommer returned to his former home track to win the pole vault with a clearance of 4.73m/15-6.25 ft.

Gretchen Pfeiffer (steeplechase) and Cole Donahe (javelin) also took the gold in their events.

MU will head to Villanova for the 2023 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships May 11-13.
