POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team had a hand in all three of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's awards for this week. Red-shirt freshman Haley Ahr was named MAAC Player and Rookie of the Week, and graduate Calista Phippen was named Co-Pitcher of the Week.

In her first weekend of collegiate softball, Ahr hit .438 with a 1.250 OPS (.750 slugging, .500 on-base) in Marist's five games this past weekend at the Winthrop Eagle Classic. She drove in six runs and scored three while also contributing a home run, two doubles, and two walks. She also handled 16 fielding chances (10 assists, six putouts) between second base and shortstop without committing an error. Ahr had three two-hit games. Against North Carolina A&T, she drove in five and hit a three-run walk-off homer in the sixth to end the game by the mercy rule.

Phippen had a 1.75 ERA and 0.75 WHIP while allowing the opposition to hit just .186 against her this past week. She pitched two complete games and struck out 15 while allowing just eight hits, three runs, and one walk over 12 innings. In a win over North Carolina A&T, Phippen retired the first 12 batters she faced and struck out eight over six innings while tossing a three-hitter with no walks. The following day against Nevada, Phippen took a shutout into the sixth inning. She struck out seven and walked one. This is the fourth time Phippen has been named MAAC Pitcher of the Week in her career.

Marist returns to action this week at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational. The Red Foxes will play two games apiece on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as they will take on Seattle, St. Bonaventure, and host Hawaii twice apiece.
