Marist College announces Marist Softball Hosts Seton Hall for Non-Conference Doubleheader

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team returns home on Tuesday to face Seton Hall of the Big East for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch of game one is set for 2 p.m.
ABOUT MARIST

Marist (18-21 overall, 6-2 MAAC) split a doubleheader at Siena on Saturday. The teams were tied for first place entering the day. The Saints won 5-3 in 11 innings in game one, and the Red Foxes prevailed 8-5 in game two.

Marist has won 10 of its last 13 since returning from its Spring Break trip.

Haley Ahr reached base safely in nine of her 10 plate appearances at Siena. She now has a 10-game hitting streak and a 19-game on-base streak. Ahr leads the MAAC in batting average (.410), RBIs (39), and doubles (13).

Isabella Manory is second in the MAAC in on-base percentage (.487).

Calista Phippen is tied for the MAAC lead in innings pitched (106), second in ERA (1.98), tied for second in wins (10), and third in strikeouts (103).

ABOUT SETON HALL

Seton Hall is 29-12 overall and 12-3 in the Big East, which is good for second place.

The Pirates have won six in a row and are coming off a three-game conference sweep at DePaul last weekend.

Marist is the second MAAC foe Seton Hall is facing this season. The Pirates swept a doubleheader (8-0 in five innings, 9-7) from Manhattan on March 15.

Abby Wingo leads Seton Hall in batting average (.395), Kelsey Carr leads in home runs (eight), and Olivia Gilbert leads in RBIs (32).

Carr also has a team-best 1.72 ERA, while Shelby Smith has team bests in in wins (10), innings pitched (99), and strikeouts (100).

 SUMMARY

Marist returns to action this week with a pair of road MAAC doubleheaders.

The Red Foxes will play at Rider on Saturday and at Mount St. Mary's on Sunday.

First pitch is set for noon both days.
