Marist College announces Marist Closes Out Regular Season on the Road

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team will close our the regular season with doubleheader at Iona on Friday, May 5 and then will head to Fairfield for a doubleheader matchup against the Stags on Saturday, May 6. Friday's games are set to begin at 1 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader will start at noon.
BOUT MARIST
The Red Foxes are 23-26 overall with a conference record of 10-6, which currently puts the Red Foxes in fourth place in the MAAC.
Marist is one win away from securing a berth in the MAAC Softball Championship, which will start Wednesday at the #1 seed.
Marist is coming off a doubleheader split in its last outing against Manhattan this past Monday.
Marist has the MAAC's three toughest hitters to strike out: Maddie Pleasants (33rd in the NCAA, once every 22.0 at-bats), Alyssa Grupp (48th, 20.0), and Haley Ahr (63rd, 18.5).
Pleasants is the reigning MAAC Player of the Week, and Myers is the reigning MAAC PItcher of the Week.
ABOUT IONA
The Gaels are 16-27-1 overall and 8-8 in conference play.
Iona currently sits in fifth place in the MAAC.
The Gaels split a doubleheader against Saint Peter's in their last outing on Monday.
Jamie Sheeran leads the team with a .358 batting average and .789 slugging percentage, and has a MAAC-leading 16 home runs.
Pitcher Kara Zazzaro has a 2.19 ERA and a MAAC-leading 154 strikeouts in 118.1 innings.
ABOUT FAIRFIELD
Fairfield is 17-23 overall and 7-9 in MAAC play, which puts the Stags in seventh place
The Stags defeated Army West Point, 2-1, in their last outing on Wednesday.
Fairfield faces Siena on Friday prior to facing Marist on Saturday.
Kaitlin Hoffman has the most RBIs on the team with 22, and is hitting .306
Samantha Lindsay leads Fairfield in wins (seven), ERA (2.96), and innings pitched (92.1).
