BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU softball team fell short to Merrimack 3-2 to start its three-game series against the Warriors.

Alexia Castro's RBI single drove in the Sharks' first run of the game in the second inning.

Dallas Andrews' single through the right side drove in Camryn Lyman to cut the Sharks' lead to 3-2.

Kira Bucker struck out six batters in 5.2 innings.

LIU wraps up its three-game series against Merrimack with a doubleheader on Saturday.
