Long Island University-Brooklyn announces Alexia Castro Selected NEC Rookie of the Week after Weekend Homer Barrage

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Alexia Castro homered in all three games of a weekend sweep at Stonehill.

And on Tuesday, Castro was recognized as the NEC Rookie of the Week for a third time this season.

Castro, a freshman shortstop from Bakersfield, Calif., batted .455 (5-for-11) with eight RBIs and seven runs scored in four games this past week — all Sharks victories.

Castro, along with right-hander Kira Buckner, also were selected NEC Prime Performers on Tuesday.

The Sharks resume NEC play this weekend when they host Merrimack on Long Island. The team will have Alumni Day and Senior Day events.
