Lewis-Clark State College announces LaPlante, Molefe Honored at ITA Regional Level
LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College Tennis was recognized by the ITA with three regional awards to close out the 2023 season.
Assistant coach Ryan LaPlante was named the West Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year, Bonolo Molefe earned the regional Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship award, and the LC State men took home the ITA West Region Community Service Award.
LaPlante is in his second season as Kai Fong's assistant coach. On top of his coaching duties, he manages the LCSC Tennis Center throughout the year.
"Ryan has consistently managed the teams while running the Tennis Center operations," Fong said. "He has positively impacted all who have come in contact with him. He is a champion of humanity by being an advocate to all. He has made a good difference to so many people."
Molefe, who has battled injuries throughout her career, completed her sophomore season in 2023 as a key contributor in the Warrior lineup. She was the LC State Women's Tennis nominee for Warrior of the Year and Comeback Athlete of the Year.
"Bonolo has worked tirelessly in so many areas of her college life," Fong said. "It is so amazing to see her do everything with a smile and with pleasantries. She can do a lot and handle a lot."
The Warrior men earned recognition for their work in the community. LC State Tennis plays a key role in hosting blood drives on campus, among other community service activities throughout the year.
"The student-athletes understand the importance of community service," Fong said. "It is an easy way to set aside time and effort to benefit others. Many hands make light work. We have received help in every part of our life's journey. Paying it forward is a good way to perpetuate the good will."
