Lewis & Clark College announces Golf Kicks Off NWC Championship Final With Strong Day One

WOODBURN, Ore.—Senior Eli Jamieson and freshman Roberta Moore led Lewis & Clark College men's and women's golf on Day 1 of the Northwest Conference Championship Final at the OGA Golf Course. 

  

THE BASICS
 

Men's Golf – 9th out of 9 Teams – 334 Strokes 
Women's Golf – No Team Score 


HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S 
 
Jamieson kicked off his final collegiate golf tournament with his best round of the season. The senior, who teed off first to lead the Pioneers on Saturday, shot a season-low 78 (+6) to go into the clubhouse in a tie for 23rd. 
 
Sophomore Jonathan Westlake and freshman Ben Oates finished tied for second on the team and tied for 41st overall with a score of 85 (+13). 
 
Freshman Millen Mistry, who was dealing with an illness the past few days, powered his way through the round and posted a score of 86 (+14). 
 
Freshman Johnny Pang concluded the day with an 89 (+17). 


HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S 
 
Moore, who was coming off one of her best rounds of the season at the NWC Spring Classic, matched her second-best round of the season on Saturday. 
 
She finished the day in a tie for 16th with a round of 88 (+16). 
 
Fellow freshman Ava Frison was past the midway point of her round before she withdrew. Frison hit a putt of over 15-feet on 12 to wrap up a strong stretch of play. 


DEEPER LOOK 

  • Jamieson's round of 78 was his best of the season. His round of 78 is the fourth-best of his collegiate career. 
  • Moore was one of five women's players to finish the day in a tie for first on par threes. She averaged a score of 3.00 (even) on the day. 
  • Westlake matched Moore with an average of 3.00 on the par threes. He ended the day tied for fifth on the men's side. 
  • After a double bogey on one, Jamieson played his next 10 holes in one over (+1)
  • Moore wrapped up the day with eight pars (t-11th) and one birdie (t-7th). 
  • Jamieson posted a par on all five par 5s to finish the day with an even 5.00 average (t-13th). 
  • Moore posted a round of 88 for the third time in her collegiate career. Her collegiate best round is an 86. 
  • Jamieson led the men's team with 13 pars (t-4th in the field). Westlake was second with nine on the day. 
  • Oates and Westlaked tied for the team lead with two birdies apiece. Pang added one of his own.
