Lehman College announces Baseball Split Twin-Bill At Baruch

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team concluded the regular season by splitting a doubleheader against hosts Baruch College on Friday at Bronx CC Field. The Lightning improved to a 6-21 overall record and 5-7 in CUNYAC action, while the Bearcats go to an 11-13 mark and 9-3 in conference play.
After losing the opener 5-2, Lehman rebounded in the nightcap and posted a 4-1 triumph which ended a 10-game losing streak against Baruch. The last victory by the Lightning against the Bearcats was on March 29, 2019 (6-5).
First baseman Ransel Pinedo led the way for Lehman in the nightcap going two-for-four with two RBI, while centerfielder Javaun Smith also went two-for-four with two runs scored and an RBI. Richard Illa Acosta pitched a three-hit complete game for the Lightning with three strikeouts for the victory on the mound.
Lehman will now compete in the opening round of CUNYAC Championships against either Baruch or CCNY next Tuesday (May 9th).
