Following a big week at the plate in a 4-0 week for the Lehigh softball team, first-year Lily Owens has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. This is the fourth Rookie of the Week award for Owens, who led the Mountain Hawks with a .600 batting average over four games last week.

Lehigh defeated Saint Joseph's 13-3 for coach Fran Troyan's 900th career victory and then swept a Patriot League series at Holy Cross to move to 38-10 overall and 15-0 in the Patriot League.

Owens recorded at least two hits in all four games and also scored at least one run and had at least one RBI in all four outings.

The Chino Hill, Calif., native went 2-for-4 at Saint Joseph's, scoring two runs and driving in one with a sacrifice fly. Owens went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's series opener at Holy Cross and then went 5-for-7 with five RBIs in Saturday's doubleheader sweep over the Crusaders. She delivered a big two-run single in the middle innings of both ends of Saturday's doubleheader. Owens also was 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts and handled all of her chances at second base.

For the season, Owens is batting .321, which ranks fourth on the Mountain Hawks. She is second with 39 runs scored, third with 29 RBIs and tied for the team lead with six home runs.

Graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich and junior Katelyn Young picked up honorable mention recognition for their performances last week.

Barjaktarovich batted .500 (8-for-16) with six runs scored last week. She has now hit safely in 31 straight games, breaking the previous school record of 27 set by Julie Fernandez '12 during the 2010 season.

Young earned victories in three of Lehigh's four wins, including both ends of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross. She allowed one run in five innings in game one and three runs over six innings in game two.

The Mountain Hawks will host Boston University this weekend in a matchup of the two 15-0 Patriot League teams. The winner of this weekend's series will capture the Patriot League regular season championship and will earn the right to host the Patriot League Tournament May 11-13. This weekend's series will feature a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday with action both days beginning at noon.
