Lebanon Valley College announces Three Dutchmen Earn D3baseball.com All-Region Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley baseball team placed three on the D3baseball.com All-Region Team for the second consecutive year with the release of the awards by the website this week. Nico Santoro and Shane Stossel were First Team selections while Tommy Moore Jr. was a Second Team honoree.

 

This is the 11th year D3baseball.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 16th annual All-American selections. Players chosen to the D3baseball.com All-Region team are eligible for All-American selection. The three All-Region selections equal the most selections for the Dutchmen in program history.

 

Santoro was a first team selection at shortstop for the first time in his career. The MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year hit .418 with a program record 79 hits, 41 runs scored, and 37 RBI. He slugged .577 with 22 doubles, one triple, and two home runs. Santoro led the Dutchmen with 26 multi-hit games including four games with four hits and had a 19-game hitting streak to begin the year. He led the Dutchmen in the field with 126 assists and 52 putouts on 188 chances while turning 25 double plays.

 

Stossel was named to the first team as a utility player for the second consecutive season. He hit .331 with a team-leading 55 RBI and 39 runs scored. His 45 hits included seven doubles and 10 home runs for a slugging percentage of .603. Stossel led the team with 14 multi-RBI games including three with five or more. On the mound, he went 7-2 in 14 appearances with a 3.73 earned-run average. Stossel struck out 75 hitters in 70.0 innings pitched and had a .224 opposing batting average.

 

Moore Jr. was named to the second team as a pitcher for the first time in his career after an excellent senior season. He went 8-0 in 10 starts with one complete game and one save. Moore struck out 77 hitters in 76.2 innings with a .210 opposing batting average. The MAC Commonwealth Tournament Most Valuable Player struck out at least seven hitters five times including a season-high 11 in seven innings against Messiah.
