Lebanon Valley College announces Stossel Named National Hitter of the Week and Earns Spot on D3baseball.com Team

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley baseball junior Shane Stossel was named the NCBWA Division III Hitter of the Week and earned a spot on D3baseball.com Team of the Week after an impressive week that included being named the MAC Commonwealth Player and Pitcher of the Week.
At the plate, Stossel led the Dutchmen to a 4-0 record with four home runs and 18 RBI. The junior hit .500 (7-for-14) and slugged 1.429 on the strength of four homers. He scored seven times and drew three walks on the week. He began the week with two hits including a seventh inning grand slam in an 11-1 win over Messiah University. In a 15-7 victory at Albright College, he hit a pair of three-run home runs in back-to-back innings and finished the game with eight RBI and three runs scored. He hit his second grand slam of the week in a 12-0 win over Albright in game one of a doubleheader, while also firing a three-hit, seven-inning shutout with 10 strikeouts. He finished the week with a hit and run scored in a 4-3 game-two victory over the Lions on Saturday
Stossel earned his spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his pitching performance. He becomes the first Dutchman to earn a spot on the Team of the Week since last April when Jace Fetterman was selected. He is LVC's fifth all-time honoree by the NCBWA and second to be named Hitter of the Week. Fetterman was named Rookie of the Week last spring while Michael Leri was the first Dutchman to earn Hitter of the Week honors in 2020.
