Four Lebanon Valley College student-athletes have signed Name, Image, Likeness sponsorships where they are learning about personal brand, gaining business experience and developing career skills around negotiation, social media influencing, and communication.

Julia Craig, a junior infielder on the softball team, and Jake Marcus, a junior defensive tackle on the football team, are brand ambassadors for Sigma Snacks. The company, based in Latrobe, Pa., sells caffeinated snacks for student-athletes.

"This NIL deal has taught me about the importance of communication and how to let every person on your team know what is going on and keeping them in the loop. This skill will be important in the future for sharing lesson plans and units with fellow staff members and my students," said Marcus, an English major with a concentration in secondary education.

Alyssa Peiffer, a senior soccer player and a captain on the track & field team, has an NIL deal with Major Prep Apparel. Peiffer met company owner Bryan Major and read his inspirational book, Training for Triumph.

"I started reading the book, and I could not put it down. This was more than just a book that you read and move on with your life. It had several sections throughout that would require intensive thinking about yourself, beliefs, motivations, and limitations in life. The book is a leadership and preparation book meant to bring light your own individual successes," said Peiffer.

Kyla Hebert, a first-year nursing major on the women's lacrosse team, is working with Liquid IV and Lifestyle Bands. Liquid IV is an electrolyte powder company, and Lifestyle Bands is a motivational bracelet and activewear company. Hebert connected with each brand through social media and said these opportunities have taught her the importance of networking and putting yourself out there.

Earlier this year, LVC announce a partnered with Athliance, a compliance and education software company, to help student-athletes and higher education institutions make the most of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
