Syracuse, N.Y. – Brody Keneston's walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning during game one of the Le Moyne baseball team's four-game home series against Adelphi University has been named the Le Moyne College Play of the Week, presented by Sodexo.
The Dolphins were coming off back-to-back four-games series sweeps of NE10 Southwest Division opponents Saint Rose and Pace, and the Panthers traveled to Syracuse looking to snap Le Moyne's eight-game winning streak.
Adelphi held a 6-3 advantage going into the bottom of the ninth during game one of Thursday's doubleheader, but the 'Phins loaded the bases with one out in the final frame.
Graduate first baseman Dewey Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill/UMass Lowell) drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a two-run game, bringing Keneston to the plate.
Le Moyne's rookie slugger quickly fell behind 0-2, then fouled off a two-strike pitch and took a ball to bring the count to 1 and 2.
Keneston got a pitch over the plate on the 1-2 delivery and crushed the ball over the left field fence to give the Dolphins an 8-6 walk-off victory, their ninth consecutive conference win.
Keneston is slashing .295/.395/.533 with six home runs, 35 RBI, 31 runs, 21 walks and four stolen bases in 37 starts so far in his rookie campaign with the Dolphins.
The Le Moyne College baseball team (23-22, 12-12 NE10) will play their final regular season conference series this Friday and Saturday at University of New Haven (27-11, 9-6 NE10). The Dolphins and the Chargers will play doubleheaders at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. on both days.
After taking three of four games during the Adelphi series, the Dolphins are currently in second in the NE10 Southwest Division Standings ahead of New Haven and behind Southern Connecticut State (29-11, 12-4 NE10).
