Skylar Hall (Jr.-Negaunee, Mich.) and Jordan August (So.-Schererville, Ind.) gave Lakeland University a pair of honorees when the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its softball postseason awards Friday morning.

Hall was named a first team all-conference selection as a pitcher, while August was named to the honorable mention team as a catcher. Both received NACC honors for the first time in their collegiate careers, and recognition comes after the Muskies finished 14-22 this season and 7-17 in conference play.

Hall received the nod after one of the best seasons by a Lakeland starting pitcher in program history. She became one of the top pitchers in the conference, finishing with a 9-9 record and a 2.11 earned run average with 16 complete games including two shutouts thrown in 19 starts and 20 appearances overall.

In 126 innings, Hall allowed 102 hits and 53 runs (38 earned) with 111 strikeouts and 31 walks. Her strikeout total is the second-most in a season in school history, behind only Leslie Doxtater's 124 K's in 2004.

Hall ranked among the NACC leaders inside the top 10 in 13 different categories, including in the top three in six categories. She ranked third in the conference in strikeouts, strikeouts per 7 innings (6.2), opponents' batting average (.218), complete games, hits allowed per 7 innings (5.67) and walks plus hits per innings pitched (1.06). She also was fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.58) and sixth in ERA and innings pitched.

August was the Muskies' offensive leader most of the season, as well as one of the conference's better backstops behind the plate. She played in every game, starting 35 and often catching the first game before performing as a designated hitter the second game of doubleheaders.

August hit .311 for the season with 32 hits, four doubles, 24 runs batted in and 12 runs scored. She led the team in RBIs virtually the entire season from spring break onward, and also finished second on the squad in hits and batting average.

August also was one of six players in the NACC to record a perfect fielding percentage for the season, going without an error in 134 chances. She also threw out five of 18 base runners trying to steal against her, and was one of the reasons Lakeland as a team ranked third in percentage of runners thrown out attempting to steal (29.2%).
