Lakeland University Announces Eitel Runner-up Finish in 400 Hurdles Tops Lakeland Finishers at St. Norbert Invite

DE PERE, Wis. – Travis Eitel (Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) finished second in the men's 400-meter hurdles to highlight the Lakeland University outdoor track & field teams' performances at the St. Norbert College Invitational held Saturday in cold and wet conditions at Schneider Stadium.

Eitel finished in 59.96 seconds to take second in his heat and second overall of nine to complete the event. He scored eight of the Muskies men's team's 13 points to rank eighth in the team standings on the men's side.

Lakeland also received a seventh-place finish in the long jump from Muse Abdi (So.-Mankato, Minn.), who posted a best of 20 feet, 2 1/2 inches (6.16 meters). The Muskies also placed eighth in the men's 4 x 400 relay, with Eitel, Eduardo Campuzano (Fr.-Hinckley, Ill.), Kevon Holbrook (Sr.-Kankakee, Ill.) and Jake Lemke (Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) finishing in 3:45.59, and Lemke added an eighth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 54.30.

Personal bests for Lakeland included Owen Luedtke (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) running the 800 in 2:24.98 and Dakota Aschenbach (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) jumping 15-8 1/4 (4.78m) in the long jump. Holbrook also ran a season-best 55.78 seconds in the 400 to place 15th.

Emma Ziepke (Fr.-Manawa, Wis.) had the best finish for a small squad competing for the Lakeland women's team, just missing out on a scoring spot with a ninth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:05.70. Sahara Gardner (Jr.-Kewaunee, Wis.) also came in 11th in the 100 meters, finishing in 14.36.

Heather Klepin (Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) blew away her previous best in the 800, cutting nine seconds off her PR in finishing in 2:51.09. Ziepke also came in 16th in the 200, finishing in 29.88.
